We have just given formal notice to members today of the University of York branch’s Annual General Meeting, to be held on 5th November 2015 at 1 pm, in the lecture theatre in the Biology Department (B/B/009) over on Heslington West.

We’d love to see as many members there as possible, and there will also be an exciting chance to hear a key UCU member of staff speak just prior to the AGM – details for this are still being finalised but we can guarantee that it will be a person of some importance within the union – and you are going to want to hear what they have to say!  Watch this space.

Anti-Casualisation Day of Action

UoY UCU are participating in the above campaign by holding a drop in question and answer session hosted by Joanna de Groot (Chair of HE Committee, National UCU Vice-President, as well as our own branch vice-president). Joanna will be making a short presentation, and there will be ample opportunities to hold discussions and raise points/questions on any aspect of casual working. This will be of particular interest of course to those on fixed term contracts, and also PGWTs .
