Dear members,
Annual Performance and Development Review (PDR) As we prepare for the new academic year many of you will have had, or will soon have, your Annual Performance and Development Review (PDR). The process and the form has been revised for this year, and the exec is interested in getting your feedback about the new process and the form which accompanies it.Whilst we did have some input into the new process through meetings with HR, there are some aspects which we are not happy with. This includes the use of the “Community Without Limits” framework as a performance management tool, something we have previously agreed with management (and had minuted) should not happen.If you have any comments or experiences about the new PDR process which you would like to share with us, please do so by emailing us at ucu@york.ac.uk.As ever, we will collect members’ feedback and use it to inform our further discussions with management.Please keep an eye out for more announcements — we’re hoping to arrange a branch meeting soon.Details of upcoming events in September 2026

Singing Resistance
Singing Resistance arose in response to the ICE raids in Minneapolis in 2026 and aims to build a mass movement of singers to resist authoritarianism, while replacing culture of disconnection and violence with a culture of belonging and solidarity. The York-based duo Adderstone and Mike Leigh are running a workshop on campus on 25th September 09.30-11.30 am and we’d love to see as many people there as possible. Tickets are free via Eventbrite.
