The University of York branch of UCU is extremely proud to announce that our own President, Joanna de Groot, has been elected to the national post of Vice President.

We are holding our branch Annual General Meeting on Monday June 2nd at 1 pm, room D/L/116, Derwent College.  Light refreshments will be provided, and the meeting will start at 1.10 prompt.  All members welcome, you will already have received nomination forms via email for appointment of committee and officers (and election, if necessary).  Please contact James Cussens (james.cussens@york.ac.uk), or Pat Poole (ucu@york.ac.uk) if you require any further information, or if you haven’t received your invitation and nomination forms.

The deadline for submission of nomination forms is 5 pm Wednesday 28th May, and any motions must be submitted in writing to James Cussens by the same closing date.

RESULT OF BALLOT:

A total of 30,141 valid votes were counted, giving a turnout of 52.6%. The eligible votes were cast as follows –

To accept the offer and call off the marking boycott:
25,239 (83.7%)

To reject the offer and commence the marking boycott at the earliest opportunity possible:
4,902 (16.3%)

This will be discussed at higher education committee tomorrow after which a further report will be sent.
